Calling all poets and writers: Join us for an inspiring paper-making workshop where you'll craft the perfect canvas for your verses.
There's something magical about pairing handwritten poetry with paper you've created yourself—each sheet becomes a unique work of art elevating both your words and your creativity. Whether you're planning to pen a new poem, design personalized greeting cards, or create handbound blank journals, your 5x7 sheets will reflect your artistic vision.
We will have the pulp and all the equipment, but we encourage you to bring your own items to augment your paper: dried flowers, seeds, glitter, meaningful paper scraps, or other treasures to embed in your creations, making each page as distinctive as your voice.
Interested but not sure what your content might include? Sign up for our writing workshop with Marc Beaudin the following week.
All skill levels welcome—no experience necessary, just bring your imagination (and bug spray for our outdoor workspace at the Roethke House). Come discover how the craft of papermaking can elevate your poetry to new dimensions. Registration is required, and space is limited. If the registration fee is problematic, email info@friendsofroethke.org and we will work with you.
About the Artist
Cleric Damocles started making paper as a hobby during lockdown in 2020 and now runs community workshops in making recycled and plant based paper. They love the meditative and earth conscious process, and often use the paper in art projects, letter writing, and poetry.
