August 12, 2021 • HISTORIC HOUSE TOUR • Roethke House and Stone House Tour

$0.00
Sold Out

Thursday, August 12, every half hour from 6pm to 8pm

Friday, August 13, every half hour from 6pm to 8pm

Saturday, August 14, every half hour from 10am to 1pm

We are excited to invite you on an all-new Roethke House tour which includes new tour stops, audio of Roethke reading his poetry (and opportunities for you to read some, too), and the chance to try your hand at using a 1920’s typewriter or crank up the Victrola. For the first time ever, the tour includes a sneak peek at the progress we’ve made on the Stone House. While you will still see a lot of work to be done, we are looking forward to hosting events here by the end of the year.

Tours depart from the Stone House every half hour and last about an hour. Some stairs are required to see the second floor of the Roethke House. You may choose to tour only the Roethke House first floor which takes about 30 minutes. Seating is available throughout the tour.

Thanks to funding from the SVSU Undergraduate Research Program, students from the SVSU English department wrote the tour and will serve as tour guides along with volunteers from Arthur Hill High School.

While you are waiting in the Stone House for your tour to begin, you may watch a short Roethke film or peruse the pop-up library. Feel free to take a stamped Roethke Library book home with you (with a due date of, “Whenever you want!”). We hope you will visit our “swag table” and buy some FOTR merch or become a Friends of Theodore Roethke member. Your purchases and donations will help us continue to provide programming and events.

Part of the Open House 2021 event, free and open to the public. Historic house tours will run every half hour . Masks requested for indoor activities—please help us keep our volunteers and each other healthy. Reservations are NOT required, but this will help us with our planning. Donations gladly accepted.
