About the event: Join us to hear Dr. Rob Drew trace the history of the cassette tape, a cheap, low-fidelity music medium that fans grew to love.  Rob will discuss how cassettes upended the music industry, inspired independent musicians, and initiated rituals of music sharing through mix tapes.

About Rob Drew: Rob Drew is a professor of communication and media at Saginaw Valley State University.  He is the author of Unspooled: How the Cassette Made Music Shareable (Duke University Press, 2024) and Karaoke Nights: An Ethnographic Rhapsody (AltaMira, 2001).

To register for the event:
